Why should I have a salon pedicure?

A1 the average person takes 8,000 to 10,000 steps a day, which adds up to about 115,000 miles over a lifetime. All this wear and tear on your feet can be harmful if they are not maintained properly. Lycopod is a newly launched salon pedicure that brings high potency formulas that are concentrated with vitamins and antioxidants and proven to exfoliate, clean and nourish the feet effectively. Pedicures are a great way to provide basic care for your feet. A pedicure is a cosmetic treatment for the feet and toenails that cleans your feet, provides nail care and foot/calve massages. As well as being good for the health of your feet and nails, a good pedicure can be very relaxing. It helps you

relieve stress and can be therapeutic. It helps eases tension, stiffness and enhances well-being. Feet get little care compared to other parts of your body, such as your hands and face. Healthy feet are vital to our overall health so don’t neglect them and make sure to get a pedicure at least once a month to health your feet stay in good condition.

What’s involved with a Lyco-Pedi pedicure?

It’s a six-step process. First, your therapist will soak the feet in Lyco-Pedi soak - purifying foot bath, which gently and effectively cleanses the feet, leaving them feeling soft and revitalized. Lemon Tea-Tree and Peppermint essential oils hygienically refresh feet and fight odour. Marine Collagen provides smoothing hydration, while Pro-Vitamin B5, Vitamin E and Aloe Vera Juice help to soothe and moisturize.

Step 2 involves exfoliating the feet. Exfoliation, or removal of dead skin cells, prevents the cells from accumulating and causing bunions or corns, which can be uncomfortable and painful. The removal of the dead skin on your feet with Lyco’Pedi Sugar Scrub, especially on the heel, encourages new cell growth which creates smoother and more attractive feet. The lyco’pedi Sugar Scrub is oil-free and will help banish calluses and dry rough skin, to reveal brighter younger looking feet that feel silky

smooth and invigorated.

Next is removing callused or hard skin and its really where the skill of a therapist comes to the fore. Perfect for softening and removing hard callused skin that often remains after a pedicure. With hard working Potassium Hydroxide, lyco’pedi Callus Remover works fast to gently soften calluses, making it easy to buff away callus build up. Calluses are generally not painful or bothersome, but if proper treatment steps are not taken, the callus can become infected, which may lead to additional symptoms. This treatment can also help with the removal of cuticles on the nails. It gently softens and helps remove cuticle build-up on and around nails. A non-drip formula for a professional experience, it leaves nails smooth and evenly textured, allowing for easier and longer lasting nail polish application too.

Step 4 is the very pleasant massage lotion. Lycopod Massage Lotion is ideal for a deluxe foot and leg massage, leaving you feeling light and fresh with an elegant, silky smooth finish and non-greasy feel.Lycopod Massage Lotion contains marine collagen and antioxidants and vitamins but does not contain Soybean, Canola or Mineral Oils so its non-greasy as well as effective. Moisturized feet are less likely to get blisters, crakes or other foot problems. It is also important to keep your cuticles moisturized to prevent nails from growing out with ridges or split ends which can cause the nails to lift out of the nail beds.

Step 5 is a moisturizing mask that soaks the feet in moisture. The Lyco’Pedi moisture mask is rich, yet fresh crème-gel enriched with Hyaluronic Acid, nature’s own miracle moisturizer. The combination of Marine Collagen and Hyaluronic Acid allows

the lyco’pedi Hydrating Mask to rapidly hydrate, moisturize and revive tired feet.

The last step is a soothing cream with a premium hydrating blend of Hyaluronic Acid, Pro-vitamin B5, Vitamin E and Marine Collagen to rapidly replenish and moisturize. Shea Butter soothes and helps improve skin barrier function and Allantoin is included for a soothing and mild keratolytic action (helps the outer layer of skin to shed).

It’s a six-step process that helps your feet remain healthy and ready to come out of winter hiding.

Any tips for aching feet? I’m on my feet all day at work

The first rule is always to elevate. Then the next thing is to press against a smooth surface - If possible, use a stone from outside and use it to stimulate the feet. If you don’t have a stone handy, can use a washcloth or some sort of towel.

Just roll the towel tightly and hold it with both hands. Then, roll it along the soles of your feet, first at a hot temperature then at a cold temperature for the best results. After your feet are feeling as good as new? Slather on some Lyco-Pedi Smoothing Cream (75ml RRP€12) for a moisture boost.

Are pedicures just an unnecessary luxury?

No! A common misconception is that pedicures are a luxury as opposed to a necessary component in a healthy regime for your feet. They feel so good, it’s easy to see how some people may think that; however, that idea could not be more wrong. Getting regular pedicures can act as a preventative measure for future foot problems. It treats the foot from heel to toe. Common aliments such as corns, calluses and ingrown toenails can be avoided or prevented with regular salon visits. Getting regular pedicures is very important and you should get them once a month. Furthermore, if you’re feet are healthy, the rest of you tends to feel pretty good–and that’s always a good reason to take care of your feet.
